There are about a million lyric sites that are reasonably good out there. These are links of more general interest.
Artists
- Perry Rose. A great singer and an equally great melody writer. Perry is an Irishman living in Brussels, whose family’s roots have circus folk on both sides. Site in English and French.
- Sounds Unique. Composer/producer Kevin “Crisps” Osborne’s home on the web. Go click on “No More Love”.
- Marka. Once a roadie in a band I sang in! Since then, he has become a regular fixture on the French live scene and chalked up a hit or two - notably the naughty “AccouplĂ©”. We worked together recently on a track for his upcoming album.
- Sylvia Samson. The rather lovely Sylvia Samson is an incredible singer in Holland. We worked on a bunch of songs together.
- Mika. No, not the UK singer. There are not that many reggae grrrls in Europe, so maybe we got lucky. Mika has a pretty good live band.

- Potato mp3 and sales. A system for selling MP3s that encourages people to sell them as they get a percentage of any subsequent sale. From the makers of the MP3!
- All the Music. German mp3 site.
- eMusic. 1 million tracks (25 free on sign-up) and very good recommendations. Lots of good indie music.
- 7Digital. Great UK site that offers fast downloads of recent material in MP3, i-Pod or WM formats. Recommended.
- Wippit. UK site with tons of material, plus comedy from the BBC.

- A-Lyric Goodies. Fancy a US stamp with rappers? Or funky lyricist messenger bags? Start here for gifts and other items.
- SongLink. If you think you have songs that would top the charts for major stars, this monthly tipsheet is for you. This is for people interested in and capable of writing to the very highest level.
- Band-it Newsletter. Monthly tipsheet with leads to labels and managers looking for bands and songs. Click for your free copy.
- MusicRoom. The UK’s foremost site for music books and assorted goodies. Ships free to Europe for larger orders.

- Uncommon Sound. A definitive anthology and celebration of players and songwriters out of (or in?) left field.
- Universal Total Guitar Plus Centre. One hell of a name! Motivational information for guitarists and PC users from a fellow Irishman in Switzerland.
- Guitar Tablature Guide. Find free guitar tablature and other useful resources for guitarists.
Help with your genre
- Punk Lyrics. “The biggest collection of punk music lyrics.” That’s what it says, folks. I haven’t called their bluff yet!
- Museke African Lyrics. NEW! An interesting resource for African music news and lyrics. The Ghanian site is in English, and favours the use of African languages in song.
- African Rap. News site that lives up to its name, with news and biogs for a number of bands plus international tour dates.
- Zone Metal. French site with metal lyrics, tabs, news and translations of lyrics (into French).

- Swicki Lyric Search. Our dedicated lyric search engine. Check it out. The more you use it, the better it gets.
- Paroles.net. 20,000 lyrics in French. Looking for the words to that summer song, an Edith Piaf classic or Claude François? Look no further.

- BBC Guide. The BBC seems to have discontinued their page on songwriting and publishing. Here’s a section on getting started in the biz.
- Music-Wire. News items focused on artists from around the world, without necessarily being world music artists.
- One Times One. Online independent music magazine featuring reviews and interviews. Recommended.
- Muse Muse. Great site with songwriting tips, tools, interactivities and opportunities to connect with other songwriters around the world. Includes articles, a monthly newsletter, a large database of music-related links, popular message boards, weekly chats.
- Autoproduction.net. Very active and useful site for French speaking artists of just about every genre. Use it for promoting yourself, posting news, presenting mp3s and even selling your CDs.
- God is in the TV. The British alternative music and culture zine. Boasts a section for indie/unsigned bands.
- Easy-Be. If you have enough visitors and gig regularly, you might want to try selling MP3s from your own site. Easy-be developed this easy to use storefront in conjunction with independent labels.
