Someone did well! $300,000 is the tidy sum that someone coughed up recently for handwritten lyrics to the George Harrison tune “While my Guitar Gently Weeps”. Again, I don’t know what to think of it. On the one hand, it’s nice that lyrics are in such demand. But needless to say, George won’t see any of the money, and it’s possible the lyrics were bought as pure speculation anyway. They included corrections and lines that weren’t eventually used in the 1968 recording.
But the message for the girlfriends and wives of lyricists is clear: stop throwing the junk away! Incidentally, I think this is a great track by Harrison.
