Yusuf Islam Songwriter of the Year
Posted by admin on 12 Oct 2006 at 4:02 pm | Tagged as: awards
Yusuf who? If you have to ask, there is a large gap in your music culture! Yusuf Islam is best known as Cat Stevens, the seventies songwriter with all-time classics such as “Moonshadow”, “Morning has Broken”, “Father and Son” and “First Cut is the Deepest” (also sung by PP Arnold, Rod Stewart and Sheryl Crow). Cat Stevens converted to Islam and became a peace activist, abandoning music in the 80s. The award came at an ASCAP reception held in London, which also saw awards going to Coldplay, The Cribs and Bodyrockers.
Islam is currently working on a comeback album to coincide with the 40th anniversary of his first record, “I Love my Dog” in 1966.

hi there
belonging to the bb gen. i thought i drop u a few lines (actually meant for yusuf islam) – he just might like some of my songs (similar to the sentiments of y. i.)
what might interest him also is my approach to distribute royalties – participants would get a fee of course – but the rest of the royalties would go into ed. the environment and for animal welfare
some of the songs/lyrics are on myspace.com/ozmuz – many more to follow – start with ‘ave musica’ + ‘cc’ + ‘grey requiem’ etc
one love song you’d find if you type ‘wolfgang oswald’ into google, scroll down 2nd column till u see the song ‘hold me’ nice romantic melody and lyrics
hope to hear from u faithfully wolfgang
